Towns & Villages
Full of stunning and historic Towns and Villages - you will be spoilt by what Yorkshire has to offer
Many of North Yorkshire's Towns and Villages are steeped in History and although time has not stood still here there is great pride in our heritage and many traditions are still enjoyed like the markets held in many small towns on various days of the week. In fact you could visit a different one every day.
East Yorkshires historic market towns are best visited on market days when they come to life filled with colour, banter and a wonderful sense of tradition. To name a few - Beverley, Hedon, Howden and Driffield (the capital of the East Riding) are all places to while away happy hours.
Many towns in West Yorkshire have developed as a result of the Woollen Industry. The excellent waterway connections and the development of the railways meant that towns like Bradford and Halifax were very accessible to a widening world. Bradford is now a very cultural place and nearby Saltaire Village has now been granted World Heritage site status which ranks it along side the Pyramids of Egypt and the Taj Mahal in world importance.
